This year’s Sangiovese is all Sangiovese Grosso, the larger-berried type of Sangiovese grown for Brunello di Montalcino in Tuscany. Ours grows on Fox Hill’s rocky hillsides, in a climate similar to Tuscany’s. We picked by hand in early September to keep the acidity bright, fermented on the skins for three weeks, and aged the wine in neutral French oak for ten months. It’s balanced and easy to drink now, and it has the structure to age for a few years.
