A wild Cherry Plum Tree was found growing in between two 100-year old Doug Fir trees on the Fox Hill property this summer. Harvested over the 4th of July weekend and in collaboration with June Taylor we preserved this special fruit. The cherry plum tree most likely sprouted life from a dropped seed and grew between two mighty trees. June Taylor made a soft and delicate butter, accented with the kiss of rose, understanding fully the metaphors being presented to her; survival, femininity, blossoming and fruiting, collaboration, enhancing nature and not destroying. For June preserving fruit isn't simply putting fruit in a jar, and yet it is. So much is expressive of values and desires. Entirely Organic, hand harvested and hand made. Only 17 jars produced.
This preserve has vibrant acidity and flavor that will pair with softer earthier cheeses. It’s delicious!

This year’s sparkling is a scaled-up Pét-Nat. The Chenin Blanc grapes arrived from Shell Creek Vineyard on an August morning. After a few hours on the skins, the grapes were directly pressed into stainless steel tank. We added Chenin Blanc must and transferred the wine into pressurized tanks while still slightly sweet to finish fermentation. Hand-bottled. No disgorging or dosage and light sulphur at bottling.

We’re back with one of our most sought-after sparklers. We haven’t released a Sparkling Valdiguié since 2020 so when the opportunity to bring in extra Valdiguié from Mendocino presented itself, we took it. The Valdiguié saw a gentle footstomp after it was brought in and directly pressed into stainless steel pressurized tanks to capture the bubbles naturally from fermentation. The finished wine is a beautiful and eye-catching ruby pink that shines in the glass and on the palate with refreshingly soft bubbles. Hand bottled and labeled. Unfiltered.

Making sparkling wine is always a fun adventure. There’s something new to discover and love about each vintage. This year’s bubbles feel concentrated and zippy while still retaining a soft and thirst-quenching crispness. The Love Sparkling is made to be an everyday sparkling wine that’s good for both the spur-of-the-moment dinners, however it still shines for any special occasions. The Chenin Blanc grapes arrived from Shell Creek Vineyard on an August morning. After a few hours on the skins, the grapes were directly pressed into stainless steel tank to naturally ferment. A unique expression of Chardonnay that has the vivacity only California can provide to Chardonnay with the crisp balance of fruit and acidity akin to a Chablis-style wine. This Chardonnay has a long history with us, starting with our first vintage in 2010. The Michael Mara Vineyard sits along the Sonoma Mountain range in the Sonoma Coast AVA. It’s a unique site for growing Chardonnay in California with the fruit absorbing lots of the marine air along with minerality from the rocky soil. We brought in the grapes whole cluster and directly pressed. The juice fermented naturally in two stockinger Austrian oak puncheons. Aged on the lees for 10 months. The result is an approachable wine for chardonnay lovers, novices and dare we say – even skeptics. Age up to 20 years.
THE STORY: This is an exciting collaboration between Broc Cellars and Camino’s Allison Hopelain and Russ Moore and is the second release. Allison and Russ start with a 100% Zinfandel red base wine from Broc that’s then aged for 5 months in an oak barrel. This vinegar is strong and smooth with depth of flavor. Lively and fresh, taste how the quality of Broc wine translates into this vivid vinegar. It’s great in a vinaigrette to dress a chicory or any lettuce salad. It also works well with cooked vegetables, like greens or peppers. The Zinfandel grapes come from Arrowhead Mountain Vineyard and were grown using organic farming practices. The Zinfandel was destemmed and fermented in stainless steel, undergoing daily pumpovers during skin maceration during fermentation before being pressed and then aged in neutral oak barrique. A very small amount of bottles were made. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to add this fun and tasty collaboration to your pantry.
About Camino: Camino was a restaurant in Oakland, CA made famous by the giant cooking hearth and use of 100% organic, local ingredients. While the restaurant closed in 2018, Camino lives on through Russ and Allison’s continuation of Camino Vinegar, which was the only vinegar used at their restaurant.
About Broc: Our goal in making wine is to bring out the natural expression of the grape. All Broc wines are made using organically grown grapes sparked by spontaneous fermentation, which means only native yeasts and bacteria that exist on the grapes are used to make the wine. We may add a minimal amount of sulphur at bottling depending on the year, wine and style. We never add sulphur during fermentation and aging.

The Angelica is a very special – and very limited – dessert wine whose history starts with the beginning of California winemaking. Angelica was traditionally made into a sweeter-styled wine by Spanish missionaries who planted Mission grapes throughout California. Our Mission grapes hail from Deaver Vineyards’ 170-year-old vines, one of the oldest Mission vineyards in the state. The grapes were lightly fermented, fortified and barrel aged for over two years.
Silky smooth from slow aging, savor gentle caramelized figs, sandalwood, baked apples and baking spices on the nose. Rich notes of almond torte, vanilla and bergamot provide gentle warmth on the palate. The Angelica makes a great gift for a special occasion or shared year-round to cap an evening with friends. Enjoy with a slight chill.

VITICULTURAL AREA: Located just west of the town of Sonoma. Michael Mara Vineyard is planted on top of rocky lobe. Think of a rocky field of vines. It is truly a unique site for Chardonnay in California. Dry farmed with well-drained volcanic and pebbly subsoil. The vineyard is farmed by Steve Matthiasson. Drink now or age like a Chablis.
