Lone Pine Vineyard

Lone Pine Vineyard is an interesting place nestled along the Sierra foothills. Located in El Dorado Country outside Placerville, it sits at 1,700 feet of elevation with soils of volcanic rock, shale and fine-grained granite. The titular lone pine tree stretches tall in the middle of the vineyard, surrounded by vines. Its alpine geography means the vineyards experience snow in the winter and cooler summer nights help preserve the fruit’s acidity. Lone Pine is farmed by Charlie Cosens, who grows Italian varieties like Lagrein and Refosco as well as Chardonnay. We were drawn to Lone Pine because of Charlie’s organic farming practices and the unique Lagrein Italian varietal.
The vineyard itself is what makes this wine special. It inspires us to make our Lagrein Rosé slightly different each year to explore the grape and vineyard's varied expressions. Since our initial harvest of Lagrein in 2016, we've made some vintages with longer skin contact and others as a lighter rosato. Each year brings something unique and equally delightful.
